Photo Details:

This shot published in the Seattle magazine is from "Haute Trash" an annual fashion show in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. The main focus of this show is to bring attention to how much waste we produce everyday which could be recycled, so all of these clothes were all made from recycled material.

Cast-Off Couture - This photo of Rebecca Maxim aka "Alotta DeTritus" is from the Re-Store's 8th annual "Haute Trash" fashion show. She designed this dress from styrofoam packing peanuts, bound with garden nettting.

This is what the article had to say. "Fashion - Our economy may be in the dumpster, but that's not the reason one of the city's most anticipated fashion shows features couture crafted entirely from castoffs. Timed to coincide with Earth Day festivities, the RE Store's Haute Trash Fashion Showis all about recycling. In previous years, the event featureda wedding gown made from Styrofoam take-out containers, a party dress made from covers of The Stranger newspaper and cocktail dress composed of purple velvet Crown Royal bags. Clearly, the bar for this year's event has been set high. Also, don't miss two companion recycled art exhibits-one at the RE Store, featuring work by kids in grades K-12. You may never throw anything into the recycling bin again."
